"The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have little." Franklin D. Roosevelt
As the world's rich are getting richer, the world's poor are being thrown deeper and deeper into the almost inescapable pit known as poverty. It is not that there is not enough money, resources, or time, but that the lives of the rich and poor are drifting further and further apart. Because of this, people have failed to see that no matter what one's financial status is, we all are humans with the same basic needs and rights. Undeniably, income affects all aspects of one's life, including one's health. It comes as no surprise, then, when it is found out that the poorest in the world have the most health problems. The purpose of this website is to help you understand how poverty affects the health of those living in it, and to promote awareness of what is being done to help those in poverty regain their good health. |
